Status

The PALS laser facility is a joint research laboratory of the Institute of Physics (IP) and the Institute of Plasma Physics (IPP) of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Under the name “PALS Research Centre“ it was established by agreement of both the Institutes on November 6, 1998.

The Director of the PALS Research Centre is nominated by the IP and IPP Directors in common. The first Director of the Research Centre PALS was Karel Jungwirth, in the period 2001 – 2008 the Centre was directed by Karel Rohlena, and since 2008 by Karel Jungwirth again.

The Research Centre PALS is  a key laboratory of the Laser Plasma Research Centre, supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports in the framework of the “Research Centres“ programme.

The PALS Laser Laboratory is a constituent member of the network of European laser laboratories and a founding member of the virtual integrated European laser infrastructure – the LASERLAB-EUROPE Consortium, which has been performing coordinated laser research since 2004.
